IN OUR THOUGHTS . . .

I would like to express my deepest condolences for the events that took place in a Connecticut school this past Friday.   I am sure that many of you have already heard about the horrific and senseless act of violence that was committed against not only teachers, a principal.... but to young precious children who had their whole lives ahead of them.  It has made me think of how lucky we are each and every single day... that myself and all of you wake up each morning to go to school in search of answers, questions, and to pursue our dreams.  It is a place where we feel comfortable, safe, and most importantly cared for.  For these 20 children and 6 adults, this was not the case on Friday.  

When I first heard of the events, I couldn't believe what I heard or was seeing on the television.  I can only hope that one day we can stop these events from happening altogether.

I ask that each of you take the time to reflect on just how lucky each of us is and to thank all those around us that bring us joy, love, and peace.  

LET'S KEEP THOSE THAT LOST THEIR LIVES ON FRIDAY IN OUR HEARTS!!!

The Grey Cup is is the name of both the championship game of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the trophy awarded to the victorious team. I would like to thank all of the parents and students for a very successful round of interviews!  It was great to hear the students discuss their progress and identify areas of strength and improvement.  Remember 8C, that the feedback that was given by myself and parents is to help all of you become better students and more successful in your studies.  I hope that all of you have had time to reflect on things and will make a conscientious effort to push yourself harder to achieve the results that you are all capable of!

I will continue to raise the bar for our class and challenge all of you throughout the remainder of the school year!!!  I expect a lot out of my students, but most importantly, I expect that my students work hard to reach THEIR potential!!! We all learn differently and bring something unique to the table.  I will continue to support and encourage all of you, but you all must take RESPONSIBILITY for your education.

I think that you are an amazing and unique group of students, and I am very lucky and fortunate to have the opportunity to teach all of you this year!!!  Thank you for making this such a rewarding and memorable year so far!!!  It's going fast, so let's enjoy every minute of it!!!

I would like to say how pleased I was to hear that the majority of our class attended the high-school information night.  Ms. Whittingham would also like to commend our class as we had the highest attendance out of any other class!!!  Definitely shows responsibility and dedication on your part!!!

I would also like to say that I am really looking forward to our cell phone presentations.  Today as I spoke with each group, it was great to see all of the great ideas and thoughts flowing throughout each of you!!!  It's great to see the level of enthusiasm and engagement with this activity!!!

Expectations

Hey 8Cers!!!

I hope that you were able to make the information night for Highschool tonight at 6:30 with Ms. Whittingham.  This will be an important decision for many of you on where you will be attending next year.  Please make sure you ask questions and get the necessary information from Ms. Whittingham if you are unsure.

I would also like to remind some of you to remember the rules and expectations set out earlier in the school year.  Some of the behaviour and attitude that I have seen over the last couple of days has been disappointing and concerning.  My expectation has and will continue to be that we need to be respectful  to one another including teachers (like me!).  This is a fantastic class and I want us to have an amazing school year together!  We can only achieve this if we work together as a team!  Thank you to everyone who has continued to be a positive force within our classroom!!!

I just checked with Centennial Golf Club and they will be open this Friday so I booked us for 1:00pm.
